I have always played
sports since
I could walk but like a lot of people, I only got really
interested
in my own health when something happened to me. I was
running in
my 12th marathon in 1982 when at 12 miles my hips started
to cease
up, at 13 miles my back went into a spasm, and then I had
an asthma
attack.
A surgeon diagnosed arthritis hips and
told me
to stop running otherwise I would need new hips within 3
years.
A physiotherapist told me my back problem was caused from
leg length
discrepancy and advised me to, ‘quit running and get a
bike’.
My asthma nurse said there is no cure for asthma and I
should find
a more gentle sport. I went to the chemist with all my
prescriptions
and I needed a carrier bag to carry all the drugs home. I
thought,
is that me for the rest of my life – I don’t think so.
So I started going to college to do
courses; anything
to do with health, and with the knowledge I gained I
started to
take care of my own health.
I am pleased to say I still have my own
hips, I
have no back pain, and my asthma is a thing of the past.
I achieved my goal of running in my 100th
marathons
in 2004.
Now, my goal is to keep others fit and
gain optimum
health. |

Acupuncture |
Many members of my family and friends have
been helped
by acupuncture. Having observed the sometimes dramatic
effects, I
chose a career as a practitioner.
Rather than attend a short course in acupuncture I
decided to commit
myself to a three year, full time degree course in
Traditional Chinese
Medicine at the University of Salford. Salford’s course is
nationally recognized as one of the best courses and one
of the
few that is accredited by the British Acupuncture Council.
In the summer of 2006, on a university excursion, I
visited Tai-Jin
in China. I observed acupuncture being carried out by
Doctors and
Professors of Chinese medicine at a teaching hospital. The
trip
was an amazing experience, from which I gained skills and
knowledge.
As a practicing acupuncturist I adhere to the principle
of holistic
treatment and the need for patients to be comfortable and
relaxed.

Counselling |
I qualified in 2002 as a person-centred
Counsellor.
Since that time, I have been involved with Manchester
Gestalt Centre
and undertaken further training. I have developed into a
more interactive
practitioner. I became a B.A.C.P. Accredited Counsellor in
April 2007.
I am currently undertaking formal training in relation to
stress
advice, vicarious traumatisation and burnout. These are
subject
areas in which I have a developing therapeutic interest.
I have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience of
working with
challenging young people, particularly those who display
risk-taking
behaviours, across the mild to extreme continuum.
My priorities are to provide a safe, warm and caring
environment
for my clients in which they can explore whatever problems
they
may bring. I aim to help and support them in addressing
these issues,
so that they can make positive, forward moves in their
lives.
As a Counsellor, I have experience of working in the
following
areas: - Women’s Issues, Relationships, Anxiety and

I work closely with several health care
professionals
in the field of reflexology, reiki, massage and also
personal trainers,
sports physiotherapists & chiropractors to name but a
few. CEDS
(Computerised Electro Derma Screening) testing works by
applying a
painless probe to a single acupressure point on the fingers.
The machine
sends the electrical signature through the skin. The body’s
reaction is recorded and compared with an acceptable
reaction and
the result is displayed on the computers screen. By simply
taking
a measurement of the energy flow through the body, energy
blockages
(or excessive build up), weaknesses, or toxic interferences
that can
cause degeneration can be detected. Where ever such
imbalances occur
herbs, nutrients, or homeopathic preparations, a change of
lifestyle
and diet may be found to re-establish and maintain proper
flow and
balance. Click the link below for more information about

I come from a nursing background, and have
always had
a keen interest in natural remedies to prevent or treat
problems.
I have been developing my knowledge and skills in
complementary
therapies for the last five years. My skills include;
Kinesiology,
The Bowen Technique, Indian Head massage, Reiki and Hopi
Ear Candles.
The two most popular therapies are Kinesiology and the
Bowen Technique,
as both of these may have a dramatic impact on improving
health
and well being.
Kinesiology is a holistic therapy, which uses a series of
muscle
tests in order to identify problems and the best treatment
to overcome
them. This may require tapping or holding acupressure
points, massaging
specific areas etc. Nutritional supplements, Bach flower
remedies
or homeopathy may be recommended in order to enhance the
treatment.
A food sensitivity test may be incorporated in the
treatment, as
some foods may be the cause of a health problem. This is
particularly
helpful with allergies, IBS, fatigue, digestive problems,
bloating,
migraine etc.
The Bowen Technique is mostly very gentle and relaxing.
Working
with muscle, nerves, fascia and acupressure points. This
therapy
helps to balance and realign the body. It is useful for a
range
of different problems, but especially; asthma, hay fever,
frozen
shoulder, neck problems, headaches, carpel tunnel
syndrome, sciatic
pain, etc.
In my spare time I enjoy hill walking, cycling and
traveling.

I am a fully qualified, experienced Past Life Regression
Therapist
and am a member of the Past Life Therapists Association.
I always used to wonder whether we had lived before and
whether
we would go on after this life to another life. I did a
specialised
Past Life Regression Course and came to realise that, we
had lived
before. I have done numerous successful regressions of
which no
two have been the same. Being regressed can sometimes
answer questions
relating to this life.
Regression is done using relaxation techniques, you wont
fall asleep
and remain in complete control, so you can enjoy the
experience
of exploring your past lives in your minds eye as if you
are actually
there as it happens.

Homeopathy |
My passion for
homeopathy began
seven years ago when I became a homeopathic patient. I was
so impressed
with my treatment that I started treating my own family
from a first
aid book and using a basic remedy kit, I was amazed to
find that
I was able to treat acute illnesses and accidents
effectively without
resorting to antibiotics. To date my whole family has
benefited
from professional homeopathic care for chronic illnesses
that had
either been unsuccessfully treated or couldn’t be
diagnosed.
Since then I have successfully completed a
degree
course in homeopathy at the University of Central
Lancashire; I
am a registered member of the Society
of Homeopaths and hold professional insurance.
I run a general family practice but have a
special
interest in treating babies and children from birth to
teens. To
