WHY IS GOOD FOR YOU?
Nordic Poling is a great way to lose weight as you can use up to 40%
more calories than normal walking. You use 90% of your muscles in Nordic
Poling as compared to about 60% when walking normally, because this
system spreads the load, therefore reducing the stress on hips, knees
and ankles and strengthens the back, arms and shoulders and also
mobilises the spine. Nordic Poling improves heart and lung function
because it will get you into your aerobic zone by increasing your oxygen
intake by up to 25%.
Nordic Poling gets you out of a stuffy gym and into fresh air and you
will meet nice people. Is there anything else?... Oh yes, its really
good fun!
THE COURSE
We meet on Sunday mornings at the Good Health Centre for tea and toast,
followed by a twenty minute talk about the history and benefits of
Nordic Poling. We then drive up to the car park on Scout Road and there
we teach the skill of Nordic Poling. We then go off for a trial walk
through some beautiful countryside. The course includes free use of the
poles.
